Our first project this year was for the students to write a book report about their favorite leader. On Halloween, they dressed up as their leader and presented their report to the class. They did a FANTASTIC JOB!!

The Candy Corn Contest
We have been reading "The Candy Corn Project" during small group time.
The kids are really enjoying the book! We have been reading and discussing a chapter at a time together during small group.
After we finish, they go back to their seats on work on their packet. I will take these up for a grade when we finish the book.
They are doing so well with this book study! I can't wait to do another one!
Habit # 2: Begin with the End in Mind
We have been focusing on Habit #2 in our class the last couple of weeks. Habit # 2 is Begin with the End in Mind, it means that I plan ahead and set goals. I do things that have meaning and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and contribute to my school’s mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen.
We kicked off the 2nd nine weeks, we began with the end in mind and set goals for the nine weeks. Here are a few of them:
These are hanging outside our classroom door, so we are reminded everyday what are goals are.
We have been also working on a class mission statement. I will share it when we are finished with it! I am so proud of how well the kids have been embracing these habits and making them a part of their lives!
Fun Mondays!
Since we do not have a special on Monday afternoons, I have invited parents from our class to come in and do a craft or activity with the kids. Our first Monday, Mrs. Howard came in and made letter necklaces with us (we were so busy I didn't take a single pic :( ) Last Monday, Mrs. Harrison came in and played Halloween BINGO with us and the kids had a blast!!! Here are a few pics:
How cute are these cards!!
Everyone is listening carefully!
Checking for a BINGO!
Thanks for coming in! Remember if you have a craft or activity you would like to come in and do, please let me know!!

Habit #1- Be Proactive
Mrs. Blevins has been a slacker when it comes to updating the blog, but in my defense I have been taking pics! :) the first week in October we wrapped up our study of Habit #1- Be Proactive. We read stories, watched videos, worked in our workbooks, and did a few worksheets while learning about habit #1. I just love it when they come and tell me how they have been proactive!! We are building leaders in Mrs. Blevins' class!!

Statements and Questions, Speed Drills, and the OREO project
We had a busy week! We studied about statements and questions during Language and the kids had to write a statement on the poster and a question on the poster.
Here are the finished products!
We also did our first graded speed drill. They had 3 minutes to answer 20 addition problems.
We also did the OREO project. This project can be found on the Projects by Jen website. Students from all around the world will take turns seeing how many OREOS they can stack up top of each other before the stack falls. The kids loved this project!!
Mrs. Blevins had to try too!
We will look over our data this week and see who had the most in their stack before it fell and then we will submit our results to Project by Jen. Stay tuned!!
