Statements and Questions, Speed Drills, and the OREO project

We had a busy week! We studied about statements and questions during Language and the kids had to write a statement on the poster and a question on the poster.

 Here are the finished products!

We also did our first graded speed drill. They had 3 minutes to answer 20 addition problems.

We also did the OREO project. This project can be found on the Projects by Jen website. Students from all around the world will take turns seeing how many OREOS they can stack up top of each other before the stack falls. The kids loved this project!!

Mrs. Blevins had to try too!

We will look over our data this week and see who had the most in their stack before it fell and then we will submit our results to Project by Jen. Stay tuned!!

Bling, Centers, and Grandparents!

Our first 4 weeks of school has been great! We have had 2 students reach the top of our clip chart and they got some BLING on their clips!!

We spent the first 3 weeks practicing centers, last week we had our first center assignments. The kids really enjoyed working at their centers. I think Silly Sentences was the favorite center this week!

We had some special visitors in lunch on Monday, it was Grandparents Day! It was nice to see and meet all the grandparents (and parents) that were able to come visit with us!

As you can see we had a big turn out!!

What we have been doing the last two weeks...

The last two weeks have been very busy in our classroom.  We spent some time learning how to do some of our centers.  One of them was Play-Doh spelling, the kids loved this center!! The practiced writing their Spelling words with Play-Doh!

We have also been taking a lot of beginning of the year assessments so I can see where everyone is at and what we need to work on. Everyone has been working so hard!! Here are a few shots of the kids taking their Go Math! Beginning of the Year Assessments.

We are looking forward to another great week! Can't wait to see all the grandparents tomorrow!!
